I was listening to Leo Laports Tech Guy show last weekend and he had a caller that was also banned from facebook because of those posts. Turns out she had Avast for the mac installed on her computer. He told her to remove Avast and the issue would probably go away as he couldn't figure anything else out.
Such an attack is called a man in the middle attack.
