Yes, this happens in edit fields all the time, I think it's something to do with the keyboard not waking properly after sleep but I could be wrong. I notice weirdness most often after waking the computer from sleep and occasionaly I've not even been able to type the password to log in and had to restart the computer because the keyboard screwed up. Not sure if VoiceOver is responsible for that or if it's another bug. I think it's a general keyboard bug though.
