Hi Brandon. This was also like that in the beta of Sierra. I brought it to the attention to the beta group I'm with on Roger and one of those members whose also on this list, Daniel I think it was, said that this was going to be normal behavior for Sierra. Knowing this I turned off notifications for a few apps including Mail.
