Guys, I know sometimes I go off left field, and what not, and have made some
enemies up here etc, but I promise that is not the goal of this message. Even
for those who think I'm quite an overdramatic fool, I need you still to read
this, as it's very important. I've personally saught Mark Taylor's permission
to post this, and now that it's fully been verified beyond a doubt, I want to
pass this on.

Folks, it is with a very very very heavy heart that I have to bring the news of
the passing of a very very loved lady in the blind community. She wasn't on
this list personally, but a lot of you know her, so...

Not this last Monday, two days ago, but Monday week ago, Rachel Kreig, some of
you might know her as Rachel Black, she had a guide dog at one point back in
the days named Raven, if that helps jog your memory, passed away.

Obviously, this has came as a tramendous shock to many!

Here's what I know:

Apparently, Rachel had been sufferring for quite some time with very very very
severe migraines, and I don't just mean your typical ouch ouch ouch, crap it
hurts head ache either. I mean, these things totally yielded her to her knees,
bless her heart! ON top of that, she had really really really severe anxiety
any/depression as well as bipolar. So, we don't really exactly know if that
played a factor or not, but basically... from what I understand, she had gone
that Monday to a regular rutine doctor checkup. During that appointment, they
had done a full MRI. Apparently she got those, I'm wanting to say, twice a
year? I think I remember her saying?

Anyway, she got up that Monday morning and felt just fine. The day was really
typical. You know, the usual, get your shower, get dressed, use the bathroom,
do your hair, whatever. You know, check some quick e-mail/texts, check
Facebook, whatever. Later that morning, her mom who also along with Rachel
lives in Tucson Arazona came to pick her up for her appointment. From what her
mom said, she seemed slightly tired, but nothing even remotely close to being
alarming nor out of the norm. I said tired, not exhausted. Just your ocasional
yawn here and there. Nothing to write home about, no pun intended.

So, she gets to the doctor, all goes just fine. She got a great report, etc.
So, she got home, and about 20 minutes after getting home, before her mom left,
she told her mom she didn't feel well. Apparently, Mrs. Black said she didn't
really say specifically how she didn't feel well. I suspect that it was a
migraine coming on, although, we'll never really know for sure.

All at this time that we know is, as I said, she told her mom she wasn't
feeling well at all, and over maybe a 5 minute period it became really really a
problem. She told her mother she was going to go lie down for a bit and try to
rest it off like normal. Her mom said OK that she was finnishing things up at
Rachel's apartment, then would lock up, and let herself out, and told Rachel to
get some rest.

About 10 minutes later, she went in to check on Rachel before leaving, to see
if she wanted some Tylenol, or Asperin etc. When she went in to check, she
realize that Rachel wasn't breathing. Apparently, it's my understanding that 9
1 1 was called, but C P R was never attempted. I suspect it was too late. By
the time E M T's arrived, she'd slipped away to be with the Lord.

I only just found out about this yesterday. So yeah, we dono if it was an
annurism, a stroke, maybe her anxiety, or a combination. I'm guessing it was
probably a bit of all the above not helping matters. We absolutely don't think
it was any complication from the appointment. It's possible, though incredibly
doubtful.

Rachel was very involved with the Zone BBS back in the days. Some of you might
remember her, as back in the days, she was roomates with Nancy Lynn, AKA, Nancy
Shipman, AKA Lady Garnisha on Vorail.

She also was very involved back in the days in the blind Pac Mate users
community. She was only 32 years old, so just 2 years younger than me. It's
funny, back in 2007, we actually for an incredibly short time went out with
each other as boy/girlfriend. That's a long story I won't bore you with, but
suffice it to say, things didn't work out. There was no badness at all. We both
remained incredibly good friends up until the end. Romantically, it just
didn't work. LOL! Now, I guess we know why, go figure, huh!

Anyway, she will be incredibly, and I do mean, incredibly! incredibly! missed!
May she rest in peace forever!

Rachel, we love you!

Chris.
