Ok the new shortcut did not work but upon removing it, the original one no longer works. That is ok.

This leads to another question. How to uncover shortcuts that are used to launch 3rd party apps. I have many on the dock but its too crowded to add more so this might be good information if an app has such a shortcut.

Yes, you can create a shortcut for any item in a menu. If there are
submenus you are supposed to be able to separate the menu from the sub
menu with -> but I have not gotten that to work. Make sure your
capitalization is the same as the menu item you are shortcutting.

I've not tried to remap one, only map a function that lacked one.
But give it a try: System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts, app
shortcuts, add. Select the app from the popup menu (vo-left to see
it from where you land in the dialog), set the shortcut, and see if
    it works.

I have one app whose shortcut is too close to another shortcut I use
    often. Thanks.
