Ok the new shortcut did not work but upon removing it, the original
one no longer works. That is ok.
This leads to another question. How to uncover shortcuts that are
used to launch 3rd party apps. I have many on the dock but its too
crowded to add more so this might be good information if an app has such
a shortcut.

But give it a try: System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts, app
shortcuts, add. Select the app from the popup menu (vo-left to see
it from where you land in the dialog), set the shortcut, and see if
it works.
