Hello Ben, The Maps app has come a long way since those early days.
In case you and others did not know, it is now possible to send a bug report or feature request from directly within the app, itself. To do this: 1. Open the Maps app. 2. Tap the Settings button, located near the upper right corner of the display. A lower screen dialog tab box will appear. 3. Select the "Report an Issue", button, located near the bottom of the display. 4. Select the "Other Issue, General App Feedback", button. 5. Enter your comments in the only text edit field on the display and press the Send button when you are done. Please note that this edit field can only accept 999 characters. Also, if this is the first time you've used this feature, you may be prompted to either enter or confirm your feedback email address. Finally, since the feedback is limited to 999 characters, I will paste in here the text I sent which is 916 characters. You may use any or part of it in your submission to Apple. [BEGIN MARK's FEEDBACK] Regarding Points of Interest Announcements for VoiceOver Users, A Suggestion Hello, If one sets the tracking feature to, “On+Heading”, then places VoiceOver focus on the, “My Location”, area of the screen, as one travels down a road, cross street names and intersection info is quite accurately announced. There is a problem using the intersection announcements, however, because, in addition to providing intersection feedback, Maps also continuously announces points-of-interests as they are passed. In a vehicle, this is simply too much info as the feedback can be come cluttered. If POI announcements could be toggled on and off, in the scenario I have described above, then the native iOS Maps app could quite easily make it possible for those of us who are visually challenged to enjoy basic GPS navigation without having to incur additional cost by purchasing third-party GPS navigation solutions. Thank you, [END MARK's FEEDBACK] Mark -----Original Message----- From: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com [mailto:macvisionaries@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Ben J. Mark, That's why I love Nearby Explorer. I turn off points of interest when I'm in a car, but I turn them back on when I walk. I'll have to try that tomorrow with Maps. I've been wary of that app since the initial problem with wrong data in the mapping. Ben On 1/6/2017 21:32, M.
