Agree with you on that one.  On my gigapower network with att I get really 
great band wwidth with wired compared to eh wireless network around this big 
house.  A lot of blind spots  wher no wifi around and that’s  why I asked about 
mesh routers around the house.

I’ll take the network question part of this.  For best performance you’d use a 
wire.  Wireless is good but wired is still your fastest option.  You can nail 
that wired connection to gigabit and get quite a bit of throughput.  Wireless 
will work but expect the wire to be as much as twice as fast possibly more.  
(That’s a rough estimation there’s a lot of factors to consider)

One other option you might go with is setting up a network attached storage 
that both your Mac and windows have access to.  You can get several terabytes 
for a couple hundred bucks and then you don’t have to leave both machines on 
all the time or depend on Windows.  You can use also different file transfer 
methods SIFS for Windows, and so forth which should perform better.  Just 
another way to get from here to there, take it a you wish and good luck.
