Hi Krister,

I know I've struck a similar situation like this a couple of years back where
the Sophos version I used wasn't working well with I think it was OS X 10.10 at
the time.

We had a link to a Sophos page that had a script that you could run which
would remove the old version of Sophos getting rid of everything from it's
installation.

I will check this one with our security team on Monday if you can hang on that
long.

Otherwise may be searching for a Sophos removal tool would be a good solution .

Subject: Strange problem with Sophos AntiVirus

Hello,
I’m trying to uninstall Sophos Antivirus so that i can reinstall it again. The
saga started a while back when i suddenly couldn’t open Sophos at all because
it claimed that an image was missing and when i tried to quit, the application
got into an endless loop where it popped up the dialog about that it couldn’t
open time and time again.
I stupidly uninstalled only the application portion and forgot that deep in the
system there was this Sophos agent that should be turned off before
uninstalling, now the real fun begins: Every time the computer starts up i get
this message saying that the Sophos agent couldn’t be opened because of an
unexpected error a help button and an ok button. Pressing the ok button makes
the dialog go away a couple minutes at best but then it comes right back again
and pressing ok only pops it up again. I have chosen to ignore the dialog
because i don’t know what to do and how to do it to get rid of the offending
component and reinstall Sophos again.
I have been into the login items page, but Sophos agent can’t be found. I have
tried to kill processes but no process with the name ”Sophos agent” is present.
I have tried to throw away components from the /user/library but it can’t be
done because a component is in use.
What can i do?
/Krister
