Um,

 I've got the x and I don't by choice use face id,

Therrfore I'm not being forced to use it.

As for choices,

Apple do give you choices.

iPhone 6 upwards give you a number of choices

all have both pin codes and touch ID only the x has pin and face id,

 so I can't see issues 
in what you guys are say.

Well they shouldn't force you to use face ID, lucky for us. We still have the 
option to buy the 8 and 8plus if we need a device from this year. Personally 
for me the last IPhone I will own will be the last I am able to get touch ID.
