Hi all, I am writing this message using a Refreshabraille braille display, running the latest version of iOS on an iPhone X.
First, the braille display commands are not as limited as they first appear. Go to settings, general, accessibility, voiceover, braille, find the display, and activate the More Info button. In addition to forget this device, there is now a Braille Commands option. This option is excellent. It lists all possible braille display commands, organised into categories. Opening a category reveals the commands in it. Opening a command shows the command, if it exists, and the option to change or add a braille display button combination. Writing and reading in contracted braille works well now. I am not experiencing any delays thus far. That said, there is still a problem. When inserting text, speech keeps speaking the word after the text I just wrote rather than the word I just wrote. Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to figure out how to go through the misspelled words selection to select a replacement word. Over all, I am impressed with how the braille display is working, especially for writing in contracted braille. That said, Apple has figured out how to edit text in contracted braille. Again, I am quite impressed.
