I'd definitely wait. My mother is looking to replace her 2012 Pro, and that's 
my advice to her as well.

The 2016 and 2017 Pros have the new butterfly key mechanism in their keyboards, 
and it's very prone to damage from debris which other keyboards would just 
shrug off. I'm hoping that is addressed in the 2018 refresh. Besides that, 
we're just a few months from when Apple will probably announce the new Macs, so 
it would be better to wait and see. If they release something this fall, great. 
If not, it will probably not happen until next spring, and you can decide then 
if you want to wait all that time or not.
