This is not just about money so far as I’m concerned; the “Canned Ring Tones” frequently are an unwanted snippet cut from a song (or other source) whereas I’d much rather use a different snippet from the same source.
For example, a song named “Don’t Tell Mama I’ve Been Drinkin’” by Alan Jackson did not use the part I wanted - I wanted the line where he sings, “Don’t Tell Mama I’ve Been Drinkin’” because (in my younger days) it was a real hoot when my Mom would call and I just happened to be at the local gin mill.
