Volume wasn't mentioned, as far as I recall. The quality of sound was said to be better, with no specifics given. The focus was on the stereo separation; Apple claims that stereo sounds much better in the XS, with both hardware and AI helping to improve the experience. I'm looking forward to trying that particular feature in person, but it's not enough to make me want to upgrade.
