Just a line on the new possibilities with the ipad. We're currently testing the unity 3D engine, and the sound source+colision components to see how the spatial sound respects real physical values.
I just found that in a lot of the VST plugins available for free, there are meters which can be the basis of a true spatial sound cue in the 3d engine's world, which we are restricting to a mansion in which one should be able to roam, and interact with various objects. The aim here is to use sounds in the environment to gather clues on a horrible event which happened in this mansion, with dialogues and various rooms. We really are at the first steps, but working in tandem with the devver, i can see a lot of potential on this engine. I don't know if you guys remember my first post on macvisionaries, but i spoke of all of this, albeit for a flat 2d adventure game. I've sort of jumped straight to 3d, but i think it is for the better. Hope someone might want to test our first builds when they come out.
