the location to that parent folder and its good now. Good thing your
wife did not toss your laptop out the window this summer. :)

you pick the iTunes parent folder,, not the iTunes Media folder. Since
the parent folder contains the ITL and other database files, the proper

Had a hunch so while holding the option key I opened iTunes and tried
choosing the library that way. Selected the iTunes Media folder and
opened it. Got an error message and googled it. Eventually found the fix
was to select the .itl file directly. But it was old so copied the most
current one from backup. That did it and I watched Star Trek. :)
I don't know why that most current file was not on the external drive
but was on the backup drive which I run weekly. Strange.

Nothing seems to work. I have disconnected the external drive and I
still see the content in iTunes and I have repeated changing the
location in preferences. The only thing I have not done is to reboot
