Hi Steve, If you’re looking for more instruments that you can use in Garage Band, I would recommend looking at Logic Pro X from Apple.
You can find this in the app store and it is extremely accessible right out of the box. It does take a bit of a learning curve though. However, if you are already using Garage Band, then you should have no trouble at all learning Logic since it is based on the same paradigm. The app costs $199.99 last time I checked and it comes with about 70 GB of instruments you can use both in Logic or in Garage Band. Logic is quite a bit more sophisticated than GB and is an industry standard recording package just like ProTools. The Exception being that its sound libraries are interchangeable with Garage Band as I mentioned. Whereas the stock libraries which come with ProTools are not useable in Garage Band. So you could purchase Logic now and use its libraries in Garage Band and venture into learning Logic Pro X as you go. Ultimately, if you wish to do serious recording, you will want to eventually use Logic or ProTools. Both are excellent apps. Hope this helps and please have a great day! Cheers!
