I have experienced the same thing but have no fix for it. So Sorry. The Voice part of the Voiceover utility has been awful since Mojave if not High Sierra. The Greek voice still hasn’t been fixed although I must have reported more than 20 times. It’s killing me and my work. And I can’t upgrade my other mac to High Sierra or Mojave because of this. Bad bad bad!
