Hi. You certainly don't want to leave it without the glass...

You can get a replacement glass panel that perfectly fits the imac
from various sellers on e bay for around $65. Just search for iMac
replacement glass and you should find it. be sure you know your imac
model before purchasing something though. Proper placement is
essential. The way guys do it a lot of the time is to use a few
suction cups to get it into position. You need to be careful when
placing it though as the magnets used to hold the glass panel in place
are very strong. The risk of the glass being cracked or broken though
is much higher when taking off an old panel though. Getting the
placement just right the first time will avoid you having to take the
new one off to reposition it...
