Subject: RE: creating ringtones from my own mp3's

Hey Joe,
Please send me the info on the iringer and the Iphone email list
thanks I have goldwave and tried to convert the mp3 which I cut down to 30
seconds but it said that it was not able to convert it to a ringtone for
some reason even though it was in acc format for the apple products. I found
iringer and have created a test ringtone and sent it to my son who has an
iphone 3gs so fingers crossed.

Regards Dean

You can use your own ringtones for your IPhone with out jail
breaking it. I
recommend you use gold wave or what ever on the Mac side of things
to get
the ring tone like you want it and then use a program like iringer
to
convert it to the format you need to put it on your IPhone. This
converter
will convert it and add it to iTunes in the correct place for you.
Then all
you need to do is hook your IPhone to iTunes check the ringtones you
want on
your phone and sync it. If need the site to iringer I will be glad
to give
it to you. Also there is a list dedicated to the IPhone and will be
glad to
        give that to you also.

If you jail break your IPhone, I believe you can then use your own
mp3 files
        as ring tones.

But I'm not sure how much jail breaking the device screws up the
workings
for VO. It does in a few cases at least it did on a friend of mines
device.
Some of his apps no longer worked correctly .

        Hey All,
I am very strongly thinking of getting an Iphone in may this
year
the only thing that I don't like so far is the fact that you can't
use you
own music from mp3's to use as ringtones is this correct or is there
an app
for the Iphone that gets around this problem and what is the general
thoughts as far as accessibility on the iphone any input will be
much
appreciated to make my final choice.
        Regards Dean
