Simon, I guess that there's old and older then. The older ones looked like the charging brick for an Apple laptop. You could plug it directly into the wall, or put the extension cable on it and place it anywhere. The newer, or old, ones, looked more like an Apple TV 2 or 3 model. The older ones did not have as modern of WiFi connectivity options, slower processors, and could not be upgraded as far from a software prospective.

What is the older device, I have an express which I believe was the last model produced but would love to update if they had a newer version. Hi, It's possible that it's the fault of the older Airport Express as you've suggested. The processor in the older one is slower, it does not support all the same features as the newer models, and usually only updates to a version of software that does not support all the newer features. These, of course, are just educated guesses as I don't have an older Express around to confirm. Later... I have 2 airport express devices in my Apartment. One older and one of the newer ones. When i get for example a call or want to ask siri about something and i am connected to the older airport express the music interupts as it used to do when connected to bouetooth. But when i am connected to the newer airport express and do the same the music continues to play like nothing has happend. Also the newer express device is called something like multirout or something like that. Is this because the newer airport express has support for airplay 2? If so then i have to try to find a refurbished one for my kitchen. /A -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
