Hi Simon,
Well, it seems to me that we tried the sound bar that my husband currently 
uses, which is one that exhibits the problem, with an optical cable. But I 
could be wrong. That probably would’ve been with an older Apple TV. I have the 
one just before the 4K these days, and I don’t even know if it has an optical 
connection. Seems to me I remember that it doesn’t. But I will have to check 
into it.
