Yes, I helped teach a specific class on this just this spring.  I haven’t 
turned on my Mac mini in almost 4 months, I probably should just to update apps 
and Mojave.  But my iPad Pro 11 inch gets the job done for me, the reading of 
email on the split screen is not bad at all.  You just change your router to 
containers as another member mentioned, and everything is smooth sailing.  I am 
even able to connect to my 2 servers, one at home, and one at my daughters 
home.  And there are a lot of new great features coming to iPad OS that will 
make it even easier to navigate.
