Next time I do this with braille, I will hide the onscreen keyboard. I have used braille before though with no issues. Someone had posted a similar problem on Applevis in December.

Open or not, when I enter edit mode. the onscreen keyboard is present but I usually make sure the edit field is active. It's a mystery but I will be more careful in future.

Hi,

I couldn't replicate your issue at all.  I'm wondering if it has something to do with the Braille display.  The process for editing a folder name usually requires you to open the folder, get into Edit mode by doing a touch and hold, as you've done, or a swipe up/down when the rotor is set to Action.  In both these cases, once in Edit mode, you can then double-tap on the name of the folder to activate the cursor, then go through the renaming process.  When you enter Edit mode while the folder is unopened, with no Braille or keyboard connected, the on-screen keyboard is not presented.  So, this tells me that the folder name is not normally editable when working from a closed folder in iOS.

HTH.

Tim,
It was never clear to me if I should do this with folder open or unopened. I used the double tap and hold and have also used my braille display to do it.

In this case, I ended up moving the apps to a new folder to fix it.

Hi,
Sorry.  Took me a bit to get around to looking at this one.  When you say that you're changing the label of an unopened folder, what exactly are you doing?  Are you using the VO labelling feature, or something else?  I've never modified the name of a folder from the outside before, only while in the folder have I ever messed with the title of the folder.

If I change the label of an unopened folder, it dies not change the heading when the folder is opened. If I change THAT label, it does not overwrite what was there and it also adds the label to all other folders when they are opened? Clear as mud right.   Folder A (unopened), edit its label and change it to G. Open the folder and it still reads A. Edit that label to G. Now it reads G, A. And any other folder when opened reads G, (folder name). Any ideas?
