You have to map the mailbox for deleted items to the trash folder so their is 
only one folder for deleting messages. You do this by going to the G-Mail trash 
folder and click on use this mailbox for sub menu under mailboxes on the mail 
menu and select trash. There are some other settings and when I locate the 
article I'll forward it to you.
