You’re correct, iTunes on the Mac is gone. It’s been broken up into separate 
apps more like the iPhone. I’ve never updated my iPhone or iPad through the Mac 
or iTunes before so I can’t help you with that. But it is really easy just to 
update it on the iPad itself.
