Hello. Do you mean that when you open an .rtf or .doc file, you want them to open in TextEdit? If so do the following: 1. Put your VoiceOver cursor on one of these files. 2. Hit command+i. 3. Vo+rightarrow until you find an option that says Open with. That will probably be a pop-up menu. 4. Open that menu and choose the application. 5. After you're done, vo+rightarrow again and you should hear an option to always use this application to open this file type or something like that. Let me know if you need any more help.
