If it doesn't mount; what good any recovery software? If you have experience with the terminal it is sometimes possible to force an external drive mount. If you don't know terminal, find someone who does. Might this be a question for apple disability with them using a remote hookup to view your machine so they can talk you through the terminal mount process?
