In System Preferences > Sound > Output Devices, the Audio output port on the 
back of the Mac mini will show as External Headphones, even when speakers are 
connected.

I think I got it.  Only problem is that in sound settings is not showing it,  
That might be do to not having restarted yet, but there is a device that is not 
speaking.  The light is on on the speaker so I know it is getting power.
