What are you using? POP or IMAP? Have you made sure that GMIL knows to use the 
correct incoming  address and that  you have the correct radio button selected 
on the website for either POP or IMAP?

The address for POP is: pop.gmail.com
The address for IMAP is: imap.gmail.com
