Hi to you both,
Lorie,
May i ask where the file came from?
One possible test, as Jonathan suggests might be this.
save the file with a .zip extension, put it in a folder, and unzip the contents. perhaps? you may find .xml or .html files there, which can be read using a number of tools.
There might be a flaw in his theory however.
while indeed many epub files are technically epub.zip, when I get those, I save them as .epub, and send them to robobraille for converting, some epub files are created for specific e-readers. Nook for example. i am unsure if those files work the same way..I have an idea for a test though.
Hope that helps,
Kare

It is my understanding that a pub is essentially just a set of HTML / CSS
documents that have been encapsulated as a zip file with an pub extension.
Except for those cases where the pub is protected, you should be able to rename
the file by replace pub with zip and then uncompressing it. Unlike web pages,
instead of a index.html there will probably be a SMIL file that will be used to
define the order and also to synchronize audio and text files.

                Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

Are you saying that robobraille will convert a pdf to epub or that you can
convert epub to other formats too?

thanks.

Hi Helga,
While I cannot suggest a specific pdf reader for the mac that lets you
read..why does preview not do this?, I can suggest a way to convert the pdf
files into other formats.
robobraille,
www.robobraille.org <http://www.robobraille.org/>
Allows you to convert pdf files into several alternatives, some epub files as
well, using an e-mail convert tool.
Hopefully that might provide an extra door.

I don???t think it will let you edit, but try using Chrome as your PDF reader.
It should let you let you select text and all that.

Hi everyone. Hope you guys are doing well. Can you guys recommend me a good
PDF reader app for the Mac that is accessible with VoiceOver, which will
allow me to read PDF documents and edit text within the documents? Just
wondering. I would like to read line by line, word by word, sentence by
sentence, and paragraph by paragraph and copy and paste content. with this
app. I understand that the Preview app is the default app of the Mac to read
PDF documents, but when I???m trying to read line by line or word by word, it
does not allow me to do so. Did Preview app on the Mac improve with the Bigsur
Mac software update? I know some apps are not free, but any suggestion will be
really appreciate it. I will be taking a Princeton Review LSAT prep course
this summer on June, and the textbooks are in PDF format. Look forward to hear
from you soon. Thanks so much!
