most mentions of this package indicate its use as the base of wordppess running on a Mac. Cron used to be used to regularly run a process at the same time on an hourly, daily or weekly process. If you are indeed installing Wordpress, you wouldn't want to use cron even if it was still stupporting supported on modern Unix systems. Also at reast one installation guide I saw for a unifiied apache, php, and mysql package recomended very lax security sugestions. This is fine as long as 'your system is well protected from general internet traffic. If you are creating a local web service I would be interested in your successes and challanges.
