Can anyone offer a suggestion to automate creation of signature tags?

Here’s a bit of background.

I’ve subscribed to “Quote of the Day” and save the ones I like to text files in
a folder I’ve created named “Signatures.” Each file is named using a phrase in
the e-mail/file with the “TXT” extension.

For example, I have a signature that reads, “The early bird may get the worm,
but the second mouse gets the cheese.”

This quote (with my name affixed at the beginning of the file, is in a file
named “Second Mouse.”

Likewise, the signature (in the signature list) is also named “Second Mouse.”

Is there any process I could use to process each file, placing the contents of
said file in the signature configuration?

I’m wondering if I could develope a shell script that could open each file,
copy the contents therein and place that contents in a signature block using
the same name for the signature as the file name (minus the “TXT” extension).

I certainly know how to process each file, copying the contents and stripping
the “.TXT” extension; but I have no idea if the signature configuration uses
special files and what those files might be. Can anyone offer a suggestion or
point me to a document that clearly describes the signature structure for MacOS?

Thanks in advance.
