If you are willing to install the macports app and the associated command line tools, you can install the macport version called PWGEN. It’s a very nice and simple command line tool. You can generate random passwords of random length, choose a length, types of characters and. The like. I have used it in conjunction with a pipe to a text file to create a large number of passwords. I did figure out that I could create the ultimate rainbow file using it, the only issue being I would need a petabyte of storage to hold it. Yeah, that’s every password string from 4 characters to 40 (including spaces and punctuation).
