I had the occasion to send out about sixty files attached to email
messages. They were all JPeg images scanned from paper. Please no
comments about how I could have or should have used a file transfer
facility like Dropbox, OneDrive, WeTransfer, Google Drive, etc.--the
recipient demanded them in email, so, so be it. Anyway, here's the
thing. Everything I'm about to described was done on an up-to-date
Monterey system. If I open the folder in Finder containing these sixty
JPegs, they show up in a nice sorted order, alphabetically by name. But
when I open the same folder in the attach files dialog in an email
message using standard Mac Mail, there appears to be no order to the
file llist. There is, though, a method for changing the sort order, but
it doesn't work. If you VO-LEFT several times, you'll eventually get to
a control called "change grouping." When focused on that control you'll
hear a message to hold down the Option key to change sort order. I did
this, and the only choices available were tag and none. However, if I
clicked the "change grouping" button instead, I also got name, which is
what I wanted, but checking it didn't cause the list of files to
re-sort. Did I do something wrong, or have I discovered a problem?
Thanks in advance.
