Exactly. I'm not into "smart" speakers. Just a Bluetooth speaker
that will work with Mac of iPhone/iPad. And is easily moved around.

I don’t think Sonos uses bluetooth.
Sonos is a wireless sound system, and doesn’t really compare to an individual
bluetooth speaker.

Are they plugged into a serge protector? Also, I believe this original thread
had to do with Bluetooth speakers for the Mac which is not the same as a smart
speaker experience. Can Sonos function as actual Bluetooth speakers?

Yeah, well, hope yours don’t all blow at the same time. Let me tell you
replacing that many involves a hefty price tag. And I will say that when my
husband posted our experience to the Sonos user list, we very quickly learned
that we aren’t the first people that that has happened to.

I absolutely love the sound and quality of my Sonos S1 Gen 2 speakers. We have
four pair of them plus a Sonos Beam plus a Sonos Roam. Everything works well
together. We use a combination of Lady A and Hey Sonos to do everything we want
to do and have been using Sonos for years. We have the apps on our iPhones,
iPads and windows machines. The only issue I have is that the Mac app is not
accessible at this time.

HI ET,
I would strongly advise against using Sonos speakers, or at least Sonos 1s.
They sound great, but they are hiccuppy with Siri - if there’s ever a room that
doesn’t play when I tell it to, it’s always a room with a Sonos.. Also, about
four weeks ago, all our four Sonos1s fried at the same time. I assume we had
some kind of power surge during the night while we slept, but the only place
that it was evident was these four speakers. All other appliances were fine,
including our Sonos Amp and our Sonos Move. None of our clocks needed to be
reset, or anything like that. in fact were it not for the Sonos, we would never
have known the power surge had even happened. None of them was more than two
years old. My husband read online about how you can take them apart and
replace the fuse, so thought he’d give it a try. When he opened up the Sonos,
he found that both the fuse and the capacitors were fried, as in brown. It is
our feeling that there is some kind of design flaw in the Sonos 1s that renders
them susceptible to this, since none of our other Sonos speakers were damaged.
We’re so ticked off that we’ve decided to just replace the failed Sonos with
the new HomePods when they come out.
Cheers,
Donna

Hi all,
I'd like to get a couple of recommendations for a Bluetooth speaker to use with
the Mac of iDevices. Thanks.
