It has had the battery replaced twice, and it has been cleaned twice, but that is all. I think I had the date wrong: I'm reasonably confident it was 2005 rather than 2004, but I suppose that makes very little difference to the over-all story. The display sat unused on a desk for a number of years, until I found a company that could service it. (As you may recall, Baum ceased operations in 2018 or so, then VisioBraille purchased the assets and took over the business.) I finally had the display repaired, and the main problem was indeed the battery. Cells also needed considerable cleaning. This is not surprising, since I used that display for much of the writing and editing of my Ph.D. thesis.

If it fails at any time, I won't complain. The record is excellent as it stands.
