Thanks for your response. As I mentioned, in Text Edit, I am not being able 
to read paragraph by paragraph. When Voiceover moves to a new page, it 
reads the first paragraph character by character. The subsequent paragraphs 
are read properly, and then once again after a page break,  I encounter the 
same problem.
I have tried all possible options, with quick nav on and off, as well as 
keyboard commanders.
