Ian, To extract the zip, depending on if it unzips automatically or not, you can open the file in your downloads folder by navigating to the file in your downloads folder and press command o or vo space to open it. Some files, however, require a utility that unzips files. Something like stuff it expander would work. Also, the unarchiver would work as well. If files have the .rar extension, stuff it would work.
