Hi guys: I just had a brief hands on with two displays: The braillino, and the easy-braille 40, by Handytech. What was interesting for me was that I actually took to the Braillino, an eighteen cell display, much more quicly than the Easy-braille 40. I thought I'd be happier having a long line of 40 cells, but the advance feature on the Braillino was a lot quicker for me. With the 40, I found I had to read with one hand, and use the mac keyboard with the other to keep things moving. Also, I found the Easy-braille lagged behind the voiceover a lot. With the Braillino, there is a rocker switch for advancing and it seemed to stay ahead of Vo, so that you get what almost seems like a confirmation of the braille. Given that this was about a half hour exchange or so, I'm just stating first impressions. I also found the 40 cell line kind of cumbersome to read, and felt much more proficient with the shorter display. Hopefully these observations might help someone who is exploring their options as well. Carolyn Haas chaas0...@gmail.com
