Hello folks,
Why are you folks wasting so much valuable time and bandwidth with Microsoft bashing? It doesn't change a thing! Will the moderators have to step in again and say let's get on with Mac issues and stop the Microsoft bashing? Besides, with as much money as Microsoft has, I find it hard to believe that a certain individual can buy them off with a million dollars or even nine million. What's nine million against thirty eight billion?????
Let's stop the bashing......
Isaac

Unm it's not Bill's fault though.

A big part of the reason that Microsoft doesn't have native accessibility is the way a subset of the blind community handled accessibility and MS years back. There were a whole series of payoffs and backroom dealings that took place on behalf of some organizations who make money by selling 3rd party tools. Microsoft truth be told wanted to include a screen reader with the OS and make their tools accessible but found again a certain subset protesting on their front door as a result. (because they were paid off by a certain screen reader company founder to do so to the tune of 7 figures) This same subset still writes hit pieces against Apple today because they do not get a cut of the Apple accessibility pie.

Don't think I defend Microsoft unconditionally, I generally hate their products and their developers come from the back of the class but in this case at least your anger is a bit misdirected.

I won't detail the specifics here because it's only tangentially ontopic and it ruffled a few feathers of folks on this list who benefits from the status quo.

Bill is responsible for that robot they call narrator and he claims windows is accessible. While our friends at Apple, actually have a real screenreader built in to their system. So, Bill is not doing anyone any favors by making us, windows users, go out an by screenreaders worth more than their pc computers. I want to put a blind fold over his eyes and make him use his own computer with just narrator, I am sure he would not get very far! Also, anyone who has to use word 2010 with jaws, has to by another msa or their job has too. And the mac users with voiceover, cant use it at all. So he is an easy target. Otherwise, he would have wised up a long time ago and had his own built in speech for windows but, he just does not care. I am starting to use open office and pages more and the msword does not matter that much anymore. Heather
