hello Vince. I am also glad that I took the mac plunge last year. I did it quite a bit before the onset of total blindness. I went from reading large print to listening to my screen. the funny thing was, I was already looking at voiceover because I was getting nasty headaches from trying to read large print. all it took for me to switch from one to another was a 2 finger combo (command+F5). after onset, I was exclusively in read screen mode by ear. I haven't slowed down much. I have had to get a helper app for some apps that aren't entirely accessible. other than that, its been well worth the $800 I paid for the used mac and the $29.00 for te OS X 10.6 install disk. on the whole, thats still cheaper than a windows box+OS+jaws.
