Hi,

Unless something has changed drastically in newer generations of the iPod Nano, 
when you create a Playlist, even if the Nano is selected in Devices, the 
playlist is actually created within iTunes, not the iPod.  If I'm understanding 
your post correctly, then you'll have done just that.  To move that specific 
playlist over onto the iPod:

• select the iPod from your Devices list.
• go under your Music tab.
• Make sure the Sync Music box is checked.
• Select the "Sync selected Playlists, Artists and Genres" radio button.
• Interact with the Playlists table and check the box for the new playlist you 
created.

That should do it.  Note that if songs are in multiple playlists, only one copy 
of the song is actually placed on the iPod and simply references to it are 
placed in the playlist database.
