Hi Neil, Upon setup, your Mac usually just places your name prior to the model of the computer as you've noticed. It is, though, extremely easy to change the name. Simply do the following:
1. Go to the system Preferences. 2. Select the Sharing System Pref. 3. Press tab to get to the Computer name field 4. Enter the name you wish. The only limitations that I've come across are that you can't name it the same as another on your network. If you do, it will ad a "2" or "3" or whatever, depending on how many you have with the same name. It accepts hyphens, underscores, apostrophes, and spaces although there used to be issues with Time Machine backups when apostrophes were used in the name. I'm not sure if that issue is still around as I don't bother using the apostrophe anymore. Later...
