The difference is that pop3 loads mail to your computer where all changes e.
g. folders are local to this computer. The imap let remain your mail on the
server. Any action like creating a folder or deleting a message is executed
remotely so you have always the same state on all clients. But that's only
the short story, Wikipedia might help you for the rest :-)
