Hi, Anne, I have no quibble with the way it works. It does what it's supposed to do, and very, very well. My curiosity always gets the best of me, though, and upon acquiring a new piece of software, I check out all the menu items, just in case my backbrain might remember them in a pinch. I simply wasn't expecting, frankly, to pay a somewhat serious amount of money and have this item unavailable. I will accept that I'm paying for the recognition and not the pretty trappings, however, since FineReader has been pretty much legendary for years now, and I had fantastic results using this OCR engine in Kurzweil in Windows.
I did see a post about the GUI being "rudimentary" and I was inwardly hoping it stays that way. :) Thanks, Teresa On Aug 13, 2011, at 9:58 AM, Anne Robertson wrote: > Hello Teresa, > > AbbYY FineReader for the Mac is an Express version and has no preferences. > However, it works fine and can recognise up to three different languages in > one document. > > Cheers, > > Anne > > > On 13 Aug 2011, at 18:50, Teresa Cochran wrote: > >> Hi, Folk, >> >> Well, imagine my shock when I discovered that the menu choice was grayed >> out.
