Apple has never, to my knowledge, tracked their OS installs with serial numbers or the like. So you can install a single image onto multiple machines and they trust you will do the right thing as far as purchasing licenses.

Teresa,
Do you happen to know if the Lion installers are personalized with a serial
number or something else? I.e., once I have my Lion installer downloaded, can I
install that without any trouble on to someone else's mac, to avoid having him
download all of it? Just wondering.

I think it's simply a matter of getting used to new ways of doing things, as
happens with any change. I'm quite happy, even with mail. I like the new way of
navigating it. It's more like navigating a webpage in Safari now. I know I can
change it, but I'm going to keep using it this way and see if I get used to it.
The only problem I'm having is downloading the install again, so I can put it
onto a DVD. I didn't realize it would self-destruct. I've gotten download
errors, but assume that's the servers going nuts.

Anyway, the gist is that change is always a gamble, IMO …

In a word, No. lol. At least in my opinion. The mail issues are very real.
You can get around most of them but issues they are. But besides mail, I don't
think there's much to complain about. And keep in mind, one something as big
as a new OS comes out, most posts are going to be people needing help.

To speak frankly, all these issues I'm reading about, (especially the issues
with mail) make me wonder now just whether or not I should pay $29.95 and
upgrade to Lion or not. Could it quite possibly be that all these problems
people are having result from trying to learn a new OS without having much in
the way of manuals or guidance? Could it quite possibly be that there are
faster and better ways of doing things than have been found so far? Now
somewhat skeptical.
