Hi Jessica!
OK I might have this wrong, but on your Iphone are you on the [all mail folder] 
if so this might be your problem!
That Gmail [all mail] can hold all of your history!
So if you can go to where you pick the folder you wish to be in, [Gmail 
account] if you are on [all mail] change it to Inbox!
And this might help!
If you are already on Inbox then I'm stuck!
