Hi Rod, According to the developer's site description, the Express version does not have support for features such as Table of Contents, Indexing, Cross References, Bookmarks, Track Changes, Comments, Watermarks, Export to ePub, and Export to .docx (though it can import .docx format Office documents). You can download a 15-day trial version of Nisus Writer Express, too, and make your own comparisons. As for buying options, it can be more convenient to purchase from the Mac App Store, if you have more than one machine, since you can download and install to your account on any other Mac, and you can easily check for updates. On the other hand, the web site offers options such as the ability to buy an upgrade to Nisus Writer Pro at a later time, without having to buy and pay for an entire new app. It also offers an academic discounted price of $39 for the Pro version (without upgrade eligibility) for students and teachers at educational facilities (generally requiring you to supply a valid academic email address and possibly supplying them with a scan of your ID card if you don't have a valid email ending in ".edu", ".uni", ".ac", etc.
You'll have to weigh the options, and check whether any of the above might factor into your decision. HTH.
