It worked for me, and nothing is marked as read once I arrow over it anymore. 
unfortunately, I can no longer use vo-j, which I wouldn't mind if cmd-o didn't 
read the subject and some other text all over again before reading the message. 
Also, the handy feature, where arrowing would decide in which direction focus 
moved when deleting seems to no longer work either, so focus always moves up. I 
suppose it's a trade-off...
