I did a clean install, for new operating systems, I always do a clean install. You should not have to reinstall windows, just back up your virtual machine file to another drive first. I actually found a new mac mini from 2010 on ebay and bought it to replace the mac mini that will not run mountain lion. I wanted this model because I wanted the built in DVD drive.

Mike, did you do a clean install or just the update?

I upgraded to Lion at one poinnt from SL with my late 2009 Macbook Pro and absolutely hated the clunkiness of mail and other things. I would like to upgrade to ML now, but have been hesitant to do so. I use VMware Fusion and have Windows 7 in a virtual machine that I use from time to time, so I'd have to upgrade there and maybe reinstall Windows 7 Jaws, and the whole shabang. Doesn't sound like much fun, so I've just been putting it off. :)

Who knows, maybe I'll have extra time during this long, cold winter, and just do it and get it over with. I'm liking what I'm hearing about ML so far.

Hey everyone, been meaning to update to mountain lion for a while, and finally had some time to do it this weekend. Over all I'm very impressed. I think the best thing is that the safari busy messages are totally gone and you no longer have to turn voiceover off and back on again to get around this. Personally I think that Apple should provide this fix for earlier operating systems as well since that's a bug, not a feature. Also it does seem to be a bit faster than lion, well worth the update I think.
